The San Juan Basin Cooperative Weed Management Area (CWMA) is one of many CWMAs across the country organized to control the spread of noxious weeds, eradicate them where possible, and prevent introduction of new invasive weed species. A memorandum of understanding among the members of the San Juan Basin CWMA acknowledges the members of the working group’s commitment to fostering communication, cooperation, and coordination on monitoring, planning, education and training, applying eradication or control treatments for noxious weeds.

San Juan Watershed Group is a group of citizens and local agencies working to improve water quality in the San Juan River and its tributaries so that they meet national water quality standards. SJWG spearheads watershed-based planning, coordinates water quality research, provides funding to landowners for agricultural and livestock Best Management Practices, conducts education and outreach about sources of water pollution, and works to improve water quality in numerous other ways.
